On September 7th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua, Mr. Denis Ronaldo Moncada, visited the Special National Landmark Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam.
He and his delegates contemplated ancient constructions such as: the Van Mieu portico, the Dai Trung Gate, the Khue Van Cac, the 82 stone steles, and the Dai Thanh Sanctuary.

While visting the first floor of the Thai Hoc courtyard with Chu Van An’s statue, Minister Moncada showed his respect to talent and virtue of Chu Van An. He also paid attention to the history of the development of Quoc Tu Giam. Seeing the layout of the original Quoc Tu Giam and listening a detailed presentation from his tourguide, Minister Moncada and his delegates could imagine the grand scale of the first university. This was a large-scale center of education with main lecture, library, domitory area with strick regulation on studying and examinations. Quoc Tu Giam used to be treasured by dynasties, improved and developed and was a the highest – ranking center of education of Vietnam under feudal time.
At the end of his visit, Minister Moncada thanked the Center of Scientific and Cultural Activity Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam for the warm welcome. He shared that Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam was truly a symbol of the culture of Vietnam.
