On October 13, 2018, The Centre for Scientific and Cultural Activities, Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam, in cooperation with District Department of Education in Vin Bao, Hai Phong, held a competition among three secondary schools. The participants learned more about Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam Thang Long and the exanimation tradition of Vinh Bao. The competition coincides with and celebrates the “life study week” initiated by President Ho Chi Minh , as well as Vietnamese Teacher Appreciation Day (November 20th) and Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23rd)

In attendance were: Mr. Pham Dinh Phong – Vice Director of Department of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Truong Minh Tien - former Vice Director of Department of Hanoi Culture and Sport; Mr. Do Van Loi – Vice Director of Department of Hai Phong Education and Training; Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi – Vice Chairman of People’s Vinh Bao Committee; Mr. Vu Manh Ha –Director of Ho Chi Minh museum; Mr. Le Xuan Kieu - Director of the Scientific and Cultural Activities Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam; Mr. Pham Ngoc Quynh – Manager of Vinh Bao Department of Education and Training; all of teachers and students from three secondary schools: Ly Hoc – Lien Am, Tien Phong – Vinh Phong and Nguyen Binh Khiem .

Dr. Le Xuan Kieu – Director, the Centre for Scientific and Cultural Activities Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam shared: “Nearly 1000 years went on, the precious items and ancient buildings, have being preserved in Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam such as Khue constellation, Dai Thanh Sanctuary, statues and inscriptions of parallel sentences and 82 stone stele which are registered as a world documentary heritage by UNESCO. These items show us a whole education, examination of the nation and educational tradition of families from different villages including Hai Phong city. This competition contributes general knowledge about Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam and examination tradition of Vinh Bao and Hai Phong to students. It leads to train all of students in patriotism and fondness for history, encourage students in study and self-study to record great achievements, and to raise awareness about preserving national cultural heritage”

This competition was divided in to three rounds: Round 1: Learn about Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam; Round 2: Learn about examination tradition of Hai Phong; Round 3: Journey to find our heritage

The competition was not only open to competitors of the three teams, but also invited many students from secondary schools in Vinh Bao to answer the questions in the mini game.

After three serious rounds, Tien Phong – Vinh Phong secondary school won first place. Ly Hoc – Lien Am placed second and and third place and a style of prize was awarded to Nguyen Binh Khiem secondary school who had special style in the competition
