On the morning of June 5^th, Minister of National Defence of Canada – Mr.Harjit Singh Sahan visited Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam.

During his visit to the Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, Minister of National Defence of Canada listened to a presentation of the history of  the site and 82 doctor’s stelae, a world documentary heritage.

Mr.Harjit Singh Sahan was interested in the history of Vietnamese education, the fondness for learning in Vietnam and Vietnamese tradition of educating virtuous and talented men at the national school in the past.

Mr.Harjit Singh Sahan showed particular interest in  the tradition of respect for teachers in Vietnam when he listened to the history of Chu Van An – Headmaster of  Quoc Tu Giam,  a great teacher who lived in the 13^th century. He shared that a member of the Canadian delegation used to work as a teacher. Mr.Harjit Singh Sahan and the delegate said the visit to Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam was meaningful.

After finishing the visit, Mr.Harjit Singh Sahan expressed his desire to visit Viet Nam and Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam again.
