In the morning of September 18, 2018 the seminar “Dr. Nguyen Quan Nho – His life and career” will take place at Tien Duong building of Thai Hoc courtyard in the special national relic Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam to commemorate the 380th anniversary of his birth and the 310th anniversary of his death.
There will be 20 articles presented by researchers, representatives from different centers of research, Nguyen Quan families in Thanh Hoa for at the seminar. During the seminar, presenters will discuss Nguyen Quan Nho’s life and career as related to the following topics: the history background of Dr. Nguyen Quan Nho; hometown, Nguyen Quan family in Thanh Hoa; human condition of Dr. Nguyen Quan Nho and his career in politics, diplomatic relations, education, and literature; and his influence to the country.
There will be a display of special items related to Dr. Nguyen Quan Nho, including are production of an antique book, a portrait, and a reproduction of the King’s nomination. The portrait of Dr. Nguyen Quan Nho, which was drawn over 300 years ago, is of special note.
Dr. Nguyen Quan Nho (1638 – 1708) passed the royal exam in 1667. He worked as a mandarin for 40 years under the Le dynasty and played an important role at Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam. He was an upright mandarin and wholeheartedly served his country. His life reflects the precious values of the nation which is honored at Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam. Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam celebrates the traditional fondness of learning and talents of Vietnam.
