On the occasion of 370th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Nguyen Quy Duc; 345th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Nguyen Quy An; Birth Anniversary of Nguyen Quy, and commemoration of the merits of Dr. Nguyen Quy An, Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences organized the casting of bronze statue of Nguyen Quy An. On the morning of January 13, 2019, the Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences co-operated with the Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam to organize the 345th Birth Anniversary and Handing-over Ceremony of statue of Ph.Dr. Nguyễn Quý Ân to Quy An family at the Special National Landmark Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam
Statue of Dr. Nguyen Quy An
Dr. Nguyen Quy An (1673-1722) is one of three famous men of Nguyen Quy family of Le Trung Hung dynasty. Three generations held important positions in the royal court. His father, Nguyen Quy Duc, passed royal exam in 1676, worked as Senior Secretary of the Infantry, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Households, and Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Affairs. Nguyen Quy An, at Hoang Giap in 1715, held important positions in the late Le-Trinh dynasty: Recitation, Do Ngu history, and Dien Dien district. His son, Nguyen Quy Kinh, passed Huong exam, was ordained a Prime Minister (Prime Minister), Thuong Thuong Bo Lai and Duke Kinh. When the men died, they were appointed to the Royal Highest by the Imperial Court and the Royal Spirit and the villages of the Dai Mo worshiped tutelary gods. Their temples were ranked as National-historical vestige by Ministry of Culture in 1986.
In 2001, the Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences presented statue of Dr. Nguyen Quy Duc to the Nguyen Quy family
In 2016, the Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences continued to coordinate with the Vietnam History Institute to organize the 250th Death Anniversary and the handing-over of the bronze statue of Nguyen Quy Kinh to the Nguyen Quy family
Bronze statue of Dr. Nguyen Quy An will then be taken to be worshipped at his temple (Dai Mo Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi). His statue was casted in a program "Each person gives some bronze to cast celebrity’s statues" initiated by the Then and Now magazine of the Vietnam Association of Science and History
This is one of the meaningful events held at the Special National Landmark Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam, not only contributing to honoring Confucian scholars and people who have made great contributions to the family, locality and country. The event brought the names of famous people close to the public, helped people understand their important contributions, and raise the sense of responsibility for preservation, and promote the traditional values that the previous generations have built.
