The Cuban Deputy President visited Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam.


On September 27, 2018, Mr. Roberto Morales Ojeda, Deputy President of Cuba who is also a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Cuba, visited the Special National Landmark Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam.

During his visit, he and his delegation took a special interest in 82 stone steles as the steles were not only recognized as The Documentary Heritage globally by UNESCO, but they provide convincing evidence of Vietnamese traditional respect for talents for many years.

Mr. Morales Ojeda listened to the introduction about the life and career of Teacher Chu Van An-one of the first principals of Quoc Tu Giam, and the moving stories about the relationship between Chu Van An and his students.  He showed a deep admiration for the principal, as well as, the fondness for learning and the tradition of “Respecting teachers and cherishing virtue” which has been preserved by Vietnamese people.

Upon his departure, he shared his emotion in the guest-book: "I am so excited to be here in Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam, the visit helps me to know more about Vietnamese history and culture. I hope that the Landmark will be always conserved in good conditions”.
