On October 24, 2019, the Opening Ceremony of the exhibition “Hermès Heritage- In Motion” took place at Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam.
The exhibition illustrates the history and development of the fashion brand Hermès founded by Thierry Hermès in 1837 (developed from a manufacturer of harness). On display are products whose colors and designs have been familiar to people.
This exhibition comes after success of the two previous exhibitions “Harnessing the roots” and “Rouges Hermès. It shows the products that are made in a spirit of “Mobility”, adventure and discovery in new places. The products are all sophisticatedly designed. They offer a unique balance between values and history, between modernity and roots. The products are diverse, including accessories used for walking, horse-riding, car, bicycle, skateboard, handbag or even for airplane.

The exhibits are arranged in chronological order according to the 5 development stages of Hermès: The world of Hermès, Émile Hermès’ Travels, Movement is elegance, Construction games, the Immobile Journey. The arrangement of the exhibits is consulted by Bruno Gaudichon - a Curator of the La Piscine Museum of Art and Industry located in Roubaix and Scenographer Laurence Fontaine.
According to Bruno Gaudichon: “The In Motion exhibition is in some ways the perfect evocation of Hermès’ journey, which began in the 19th century with saddler and harness-making, echoing the “Roaming mood” …Whatever the chosen destinations, what counts is the movement, dreamed or real, and the attention given to the traveller”.
The exhibition opens at Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam between October 25 and November 3, 2019.
